Setup

Setup is as simple as changing your DNS “MX” record to point to our mail servers. Within 24 hours (ussually less than 30 minutes), the transition is complete and all mail is filtered through MX Police, with zero lost messages (and MX Police can be deactivated just as quickly). Now that’s easy!

Filtering and mail delivery

Here’s what happens to your email:

• Message enters the MX Police system.
• Message is processed through multiple spam and virus filters.
  • If the message is from a known confirmed spammer, we block the message at the connection level.
  • If the message is classified as spam, it goes to our local quarantine servers. Messages in the quarantine servers are available for fourteen business days, then they’re deleted. This is SO effective, you’ll eventually stop checking quarantine altogether!
  • If the message is classified as legitimate mail, it goes to the destination mail server. You’ve got mail!

With MX Police, you can rest easy knowing that you’ve got a full arsenal of the best available defense products available today. Take a look at these babies:

Reputation filters are the first (and best) line of defense in MX Police. These marvels of technology dispose up to 90% of incoming spam at the connection level - yielding the highest levels of security for critical messaging systems.

Next up are Virus Outbreak Filters. These perform a comprehensive threat assessment of inbound and outbound messages, and temporarily quarantine suspicious messages. These “suspect” messages are automatically released once signatures from traditional anti-virus vendors are deployed. On average, MX Police detects malware 31 hours earlier than leading competitors.

Finally, we’d like to introduce you to our SenderBase Network. SenderBase is the world's first and largest email traffic monitoring service. It collects an amazing amount of data from more than 100,000 ISPs, universities and corporations from around the world, and measures a whopping 120+ parameters for any email server on the Internet! Whew! This massive database receives more than five billion queries per day, with real-time data streaming in from every continent and network providers large and small. Okay, so that’s an exaggeration, but check out these additional features:

Privacy is guaranteed

Nowhere in the process is the full email reviewed by human eyes. The only data we see is the subject, sender email address, recipient email address, and sender hostname. That’s it! Nothing else. The full message is saved only when it is forwarded to our quarantine servers.

Personal user quarantines

At 6pm each business day your employees receive a quarantine digest message for the day. In the rare case of a false positive, they can instantly release a message into their inbox.

Failsafe features

Our filtering mail servers, located in state-of-the-art data centers, and are managed by trained engineers. Its infrastructure is protected with a system-wide battery backup, line filtering devices, diesel backup generators, eight Internet service provider links, and redundant networking hardware and mail servers. Whew!

Multiple mail servers

MX Police has multiple mail servers to filter mail, so if any single machine becomes inactive, another machine will seamlessly continue to send/receive mail in its place. No muss, no fuss.
